Late last week at work, we decided that it would be a good idea to take on an intern. I believe this to be a great opportunity for a designer looking to get started, so I am sharing it with you the Positive Space readers first. Anyone who is selected to fill the role will learn a ton and be fairly compensated as well. So if you are a young designer looking to get some solid experience and have fun at the same time why not send us your portfolio so we can talk.
Graphic / Web Design Internship
AssociaDirect currently has an opening for a Junior Graphic / Web Design Intern whose primary responsibility will be to support the Art Director. AssociaDirect is a full-service marketing agency designed to meet the needs of associations, professional societies & nonprofit organizations. For more information please visit http://www.associadirect.com.
What we have to offer
We are looking for someone who can handle working in a relaxed environment yet still remain professional and take on responsibility when needed. While production work will be necessary, applicants will also have the ability to develop concepts and make creative decisions. The result of this unique opportunity will be work that you are happy to place within your portfolio upon graduation, and a real feel for what it is like to be a creative professional.
Responsibilities
There are no set responsibilities other than the ability to do some print production work and assist in the development of concepts with the assistance of the Art Director. Interns will have the ability to take on new and more interesting projects based upon their desire and level of experience. We are willing to work around schedules; however we are looking for someone to work between 20 and 40 hours a week.
What you will need
- A Junior or Senior standing in a graphic design, visual communications or related program
- A solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, & Illustrator are a must)
- Some Web and Interactive experience (production skills not necessary but a huge plus)
- Knowledge of Mac and Windows Platforms
- Most importantly, a solid portfolio and the ability to talk about your work and creative process
To Apply
Send your resume and a link to your portfolio (or 2-3 sample PDFs) to azinni{at}associadirect{dot}com
This is a paid internship, but students will be responsible for the arrangement and costs of their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship. Applicants must be able to meet and work with us on site in our downtown Chicago offices.

hi, I’ve a question..you are looking also for foreign students? i’m from Italy :D

Andrea, unless you are going to be in the Chicago are for the summer, then no. This is an on-site internship and you would also have to be cleared to work within the U.S.
We are open to everyone, however unfortunately location does play a role.

I am a fourth year undergraduate with a fair amount of experience and a solid portfolio, but I’m majoring in a field that is not design related. Should I still apply?

I also noticed you went to Bowling Green State University. That is were I currently go. I am a VCT major.

Sarah,
I am not completely sure at this time, but it is very likely that we may be. If you would like to contact me then to find out, you are more that welcome to.
I understand how it can be difficult to find 3 co-ops for your graduation requirement, best of luck!
