Make Friends And Lend A Hand When You Can
I believe the best piece of advice I’ve ever received was to ‘make friends and be there for them’. And I’ve read people give similar advice many times on various blogs. The reason is quite simple: it works!
But not only does it work, it’s also a lot of fun! Just like in ‘real life’, you meet people and some of these people will become friends. I’m sure the friends you have in the offline world have strengths and weaknesses, just like you do!
For instance, I have a friend that does sick graphic design and artwork, but he has no idea what CSS means! Well we complement each other. When I need crazy graphic work done I give him a call, and when he needs help with CSS or HTML he calls me up! Win-win situation.
The only difference here is that the internet makes it very easy to reach a lot of people that have similar interests as you. Sites like Twitter makes it uber easy to grow your network and connect with like-minded people. Just remember to be genuine about it and again, just like in real life, helping out a friend can go a long way!
Be sincere and lend a hand when you can. It will go a long way and some people might eventually see you as the go-to guy for whatever you’re good at. Which is not a bad thing at all!
