Art on Track is a collective art project being held by a number of young artists located within Chicago. These individual’s efforts are a great way to bring local Chicago art into the eyes of the public so I agreed to share it here with you all. If you live in Chicago and would like to help these visual artists in their efforts please check out the included information about the event, or visit www.chicagoartontrack.com to register for your tickets.

Art on Track: Background
Of late, Chicago has become an epicenter of fresh artistic activity. Numerous apartment galleries and other new visual arts venues are blossoming throughout the city en mass, able to expose and promote themselves inexpensively on college bulletin boards and for free through social network applications such as myspace and facebook.
These strategies have certainly played a crucial role in the early development of this burgeoning art scene, but their scope is of course limited to a relatively specific demographic; namely, college age artists, their friends, their professors, and their professor’s friends.
The vast majority of Chicagoans remain completely out of the loop in regards to the exciting artistic developments currently taking place throughout the city.
Into the loop
Art on Track intends to rocket this alternative art scene into Chicago’s cultural spotlight on August 30th. On that date, an eight-car CTA train filled with art will circle the Loop from 6:00 to 10:00. Each train car will be separately curated by unique ambassadors of the new Chicago art world.
Art on Track is produced by Salvo, a group of young Chicago artist and designers, dedicated to the empowerment of the visual arts.
